Europaplatz Nord Berlin

In the course of the urban development of Europaplatz, the area surrounding the office buildings being constructed there has been developed into a public open space. As a “green lobby”, the polygonal islands structure the square, integrate the access routes to the underground and suburban railroad and provide shade on summer days. All of the square's rainwater is collected in an underground substrate reservoir and evaporated via the densely planted willow trees, so that no discharge into the sewer system is required. The surfaces are barrier-free and multifunctional in the form of a water-bound surface or polished asphalt.
