Open space design, Shenzhen, 2011
The city district with the newly built stadium is divided into two major levels, the lower “green” park and the upper “stony” stage which is six meters higher. The four stadium entrances lead the visitors via forecourts and staircases to the upper level. The main entrance in the east of the quarter is highlighted by an attractive “water-plaza”. The whole area is characterised by the Cuban Royal palm (Roystonea regia), which spreads a certain charm due to its stately appearance. The palms height forms a counterbalance to the surrounding buildings. In the eastern part between the street and the slope a little park was created.
