Redevelopment of the open space according to historic preservation standards
Halle / Saale, 2011
The conversion of the former lodge of freemasons on top of the “Jägerberg” in Halle/Saale into the place of residence of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina allowed the restoration of the historic gardens. The plans for the restoration of the gardens were made in accordance to the standards set by the “Landesamt für Denkmalpflege Sachsen-Anhalt“(regional authorities responsible for historic preservation). The plan includes historic references and also connections to recent developments. Especially the growth of new plants and trees, a combination of rhododendron and yew trees, preserve the lush green character of the compound. The large driveway is once again the main focus of the concept and is accompanied by roses and white blooming summer flowers.
