Koppel-meadows and southern extension

Berlin, 2015

With the construction of the large housing estates of Marzahn and Hellersdorf, a spacious leisure and recreational landscape was created in the Wuhleniederung as early as the 1980s. Following the organisation of the "Berlin Garden Show" (1987), the site was constantly developed further and has remained very popular to this day as the "Gardens of the World" with ever-increasing visitor numbers, and when it became possible to acquire neighbouring areas in 2012, the park could be extended by significant parts. The aim of the masterplan was to analyse the planning potential of the newly added areas, define the qualities of the existing site and develop a long-term overall concept.
